Carolina Wrens have been around the house in Austin, Texas for years. We put up a nest box on the south wall of the house. We watch wrens turning over leaves and hopping about wood piles foraging for insects. But the exceptional drought this year has been hard on everyone. The insect population has become much, much less than in previous years. 

When the wrens hopped on the porch looking for food in the caged fern there in finally occurred to me we might feed them meal worms as we had our tortoise. They caught on very quickly...
